What differs — and why it matters

Letter values

This is the real difference. Several letters that are cheap in one game are expensive in the other, which changes which plays are worth making on an identical board. The exact Crossplay values are on the tile values page, and everything in this app — the solver, the coach, the score breakdowns — uses them.

The practical effect: if you come from Scrabble, your instinct about what a tile is worth is calibrated to the wrong numbers. Spend a turn or two checking the table before trusting your feel for a play.

The name of the all-tiles bonus

Crossplay calls it a sweep rather than a bingo. Same idea, same strategic weight: it is worth more than most whole turns, so it is worth playing towards.

The dictionary

Each game licenses its own word list, and they disagree at the edges — mostly recent additions and rare inflections. This site uses an open reference dictionary and says so plainly rather than claiming to match either one exactly. You can check any word against it.

What transfers directly

Nearly all the strategy. Rack balance, hooks, parallel plays, holding blanks for a sweep, defending the triple word squares, and the endgame arithmetic are all identical in structure. What you need to relearn is the price list, not the game.
