Privacy
The short version: your screenshots, your boards and your saved games never leave your device, because there is nowhere for them to go.
Screenshots
Images you upload are decoded into a canvas in your browser, analysed there, and discarded when you navigate away. They are never transmitted. There is no upload endpoint in this application — not one that is switched off, one that does not exist.
Boards, racks and saved games
Saved boards live in your browser’s local storage on the device you saved them on. There is no account and no sync. Clearing your browser data deletes them, and we cannot recover them for you because we never had a copy.
The solver
Move generation, scoring and dictionary lookups all run locally in a Web Worker. Once the page and dictionary have loaded, pressing Find best moves makes no network request at all — which is also why it keeps working offline.
Sharing
A share link encodes exactly four things: the word you played, its score, the best word, and its score. That is the whole payload. Your board, your rack and your opponent are not in it, and the link is not stored on any server — the data travels inside the URL itself.
Analytics
Page views and a small set of product events — a solve finished, a hint revealed, a share clicked — are counted with Plausible, which is cookie-free, collects no personal data and does not follow you across sites. There is nothing to consent to and nothing to opt out of, because nothing identifies you. No third-party script is loaded to do it.
Events carry aggregate properties only: how many tiles were on the board, a bucketed solve time, which tool was used. They never carry board contents, rack letters, words, screenshots or images. That is enforced in code, not just intended — every property is filtered before it leaves the page, and a share link is reported as one page rather than as the words encoded in it.
Cookies
None are set for tracking. Local storage is used for your saved boards, your practice statistics and whether you have dismissed the install prompt.
Embedded widgets
The embeddable rack solver sets no cookies and collects no analytics from the sites that host it.
Children
This is a word-game utility with no accounts, no messaging and no user-generated content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this ever changes — for example if optional cloud sync is added — it will be opt-in, and this page will say so plainly before anything is switched on.
Affiliation
TilePlayCoach is an independent word-game companion. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to The New York Times. “Crossplay” is used here only to describe the game this tool supports.
