Which Scrabble GO boards this covers

TilePlayCoach is designed for standard Scrabble GO Classic-style board positions: the fifteen-by-fifteen grid, the familiar premium squares, the hundred-tile bag with two blanks, and fifty points for laying all seven tiles at once. Special event modes may use different rules, and this does not try to guess at them — a solver that quietly applied the wrong board would be worse than one that says which board it knows.

Everything that decides an answer here is the same code that powers the classic Scrabble solver: same premium squares, same tile prices, same dictionary, same move generator. This page exists because the game has two names, not because it has two engines.

Reading a Scrabble GO position into the board

  • Start from a screenshot when you can. Fifty or sixty tiles is a long typing job and an easy one to get wrong by one square, which changes two words at once. The screenshot solver does the transcription and asks you to confirm the squares it was unsure about.
  • Blanks matter more than they look. A blank already on the board scores nothing but still blocks and still hooks. Type the letter it is standing for and press Blank, and it will be priced at zero wherever it sits.
  • Premium squares under existing tiles are spent. The solver only applies a multiplier under a tile the move actually places, which is why a triple word square in the middle of an old word is worth nothing to you now.
  • The rack is seven tiles, and it is worth typing all of them. Six letters and a shrug hides exactly the bingo the fifty-point bonus is paying for.

What the ranking is telling you

The list is sorted by raw score for this turn. Tap any move to see it on the board before you commit, and press Explain score to break it into parts: the main word, each perpendicular word it forms, every premium square it covers, and the fifty if it used the whole rack.

The move at the top is frequently not the move to play. A play that scores four more and opens the triple word column for a stronger opponent is a bad trade, and no solver that cannot see your opponent will tell you so. Use the ranking as the list of what is available, then choose.

If you only have letters, not a board

The word finder answers the smaller question — what these seven letters can spell — without needing the position at all. It is the faster tool when you are checking whether a bingo exists before you spend a turn shuffling tiles.

Common questions

Does this work with Scrabble GO?

For a standard Classic-style board, yes: fifteen by fifteen, the usual premium squares, the standard hundred-tile bag and 50 for using all seven tiles. That is the position the solver understands. Special event modes may use different rules, and anything that changes the board, the bag or the bonus is outside what this models.

Do I have to type the board out?

Not if you have a screenshot. The screenshot solver finds the grid in a picture of your game, reads the tiles and hands you the board to check — it was built and measured against real Scrabble GO screenshots, so the cream tiles and the coloured premium squares are what it expects to see.

What about boosters, swaps and the tile bag counter?

Not modelled. The solver answers one question — what is the best legal play from this position — and boosters change the position in ways it is not told about. Play the booster first, then read the board it leaves you.

Are these the highest-scoring moves or the best moves?

The highest-scoring, which is not the same thing. The ranking counts what a play scores this turn and nothing else: not what it leaves on your rack, not what it opens for your opponent, not what is still in the bag. "Best play" re-sorts by score plus the value of the tiles kept back, which is a heuristic rather than true equity.

Are the words guaranteed to be accepted in the app?

Almost always, not certainly. Validity is checked against ENABLE, an open reference dictionary, because the official Scrabble word list is proprietary and Scrabble GO does not publish the list it uses. The two overlap heavily and disagree at the edges — short words, and recently added ones.

Does my board leave the device?

No. The dictionary is downloaded once and the solving happens in a background thread in your own browser. There is no server to send a board to, and nothing about your position reaches analytics or an advertiser.
